Below seasonal normal streamflows statewide, moderate drought area increases
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Georgia
Overcast with haze, 76 degrees at Warner Robins Air Force Base with a slight chance of showers this afternoon and evening. It is partly cloudy at Hunter US Army Airfield in Chatham County, 80 degrees with sunshine for most of the day.
Water levels have dropped all over, below seasonal and much below seasonal ratings dominated the USGS streamflow dashboard on both sides of the drainage divide, north, central and south Georgia. The drought map leaves no watershed unrated in the north, only the Ogeechee River escapes a drought rating in central state. Moderate drought applies to Tennessee, Coosa, Tallapoosa and Chattahoochee River watersheds including western Counties from Dade to Muscogee. On the Atlantic side, moderate drought claims northern counties Union and Towns, Tennessee River draingage. Upper Savannah River watershed starts out below normal jumping up to moderate drought at Banks and Franklin Counties, down to Elbert County. In the south end of the Gulf drainage basin, a small portion of Chattahoochee River and Flint River watersheds are unrated, the rest is below normal. On the Atlantic side of the drainage divide, the Oconee, Ocmulgee and Altamaha River watersheds are rated below normal.
