North and central Georgia below seasonal moisture

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Georgia
The warm weather trend continues, 62 degrees with patchy dense fog hanging in until mid morning in north and central Georgia, heading for a high 78F. Fair in the south, 65 degrees, partly sunny with a high 78F, according to the NWS Charleston local forecast office speaking for the Savannah area.

Streamflow levels continue to drop statewide. North and central Georgia run predominantly below normal with an increasing number of stations below 10th percentile, much below normal for this date. Northwest Coosa River and tributaries were the exception yesterday, having seasonal normal water levels, today we see some below normal ratings there as well. Heading downstream on both sides of the divide, the mix of normal and below normal ratings continues. The drought map is much the same as yesterday, the Coosa River watershed area left unrated in the north is getting smaller as below normal ratings creep in. Gilmer, Murray and Whitfield Counties are the rare areas left in north and central Georgia that are not in some degree of drought. Tallapoosa River watershed remains in moderate drought, that's Haralson and Carroll Counties in the dry seat today. Downstream, southward in the Gulf drainage basin, Flint River watershed remains below normal from Early to Seminole Counties. The south Atlantic basin has cleared somewhat, Altamaha River watershed is back to normal, leaving a wisp of the lower Ocmulgee River watershed below normal. Lower Savannah River watershed has popped on the drought map in Effingham and Chatham, below normal.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
84% of Georgia drinking water facilities have a clean operational record with no current SDWA violations as of the last US EPA verified reporting quarter, ended September 30, 2024.
