Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Georgia
Streamflows remain below normal statewide on the weekend with a single low flow, first percentile value recorded on Tobesofkee Creek near Macon. The uncontrolled spillway at Tobesofkee Dam is releasing a low volume of water for this time of year, the lowest February 1 water level in 86 years. The drought map has most north and central watersheds rated on both sides of the state height-of-land divide. Tennessee River watershed area of northwest GA remains in moderate drought. Coosa River and Upper Chattahoochee River watersheds remains unrated, all other parts not rated moderate drought are below normal. In the Atlantic Ocean drainage basin, the Upper Savannah River watershed remains in moderate drought from Banks and Franklin Counties down to central Elbert County. Oconee River watershed area is entirely below normal, the Altamaha River channel now rated below normal all the way to the outlet at the Atlantic Coast. Also in the south, in the Gulf drainage basin, lower Flint River is below normal.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Wilcox County: Rochelle issued a boil water advisory following a power outage Thursday afternoon that knocked out water service for several hours. A new transformer was installed by Georgia Power, the water service restored later Thursday afternoon. All connections impacted by the loss of pressure were under the mandatory BWA.

Contaminants can enter the water lines during power outages, water line breaks or any time the pressure falls below the minimum safe level 20 psi. Residents are advised to run the tap for several minutes following any outage, to clear stagnant water from the local connection lines. The next flow of water can be collected for boiling, ensure a rolling boil is maintained for at least one minute.

Rochelle provides potable water for a population of 1712 from a groundwater source in the upper Suwanee River watershed, part of the Gulf of Mexico drainage basin in southern Georgia. The Rochelle water treatment plant was last inspected Oct 2022, the reporting and monitoring records show minor deficiencies in data verification, finished water storage, source and treatment. Recommendations were made at the last complete sanitary survey inspection for management-operation and pumps. The US EPA notes non-compliance with the Consumer Confidence Rule for each of the last twelve quarters.

Safe Drinking Water Act Compliance
The WTGA.us Serious Violator List is out, showing 84% of Georgia drinking water facilities have a clean operational record with no current SDWA violations as of the last US EPA audited reporting quarter, ended September 30, 2024.

Seven DWFs are congratulated for resolving serious violations since the last quarterly evaluation. Municipal DWFs including Arlington in Calhoun County, Lone Oak Water System in Meriwether County, Mayfield Water System of Hancock County and Maysville Water System of Banks County were Serious Violators listed in October 2024. These facilities no longer have significant violations. Smaller developments that have improved their performance record include Natures Court Yard Subdivision in Fannin Count and Williams Mobile Home Park in Montgomery, on the hit list for just one quarter, along with a longer tenant of the List, Auburn Mobile Home Park in Barrow are back in the clear.
