Streamflow Situation from the network of the USGS monitoring stations in Georgia
Fair, 62 degrees at Warner Robins Air Force Base with clouds rolling in and showers expected this afternoon and evening. The northern watersheds could use a refill, showers may relieve the below seasonal normal water levels in the north. Streamflows continue to run at normal levels for the calendar date through central Georgia, the southeast is still recording water levels above 90th percentile, much above seasonal normal. Ohoopee and Ogeechee Rivers are still actively overflowing on the Atlantic side of the state drainage divide. See black tags on the map to the right for the flood details.
Hazardous Spill File
Custom Building Products in Lithia Springs experienced a spill of ethylene glycol last week. Production/Safety personnel at the Sweetwater Industrial Boulevard location explained 150 to 200 gallons of the product was spilled. Personnel on site contained the spill with absorbent material and allowed it to dry before containerizing for pick up and final disposal. Law Chemical out of Woodstock was called in to assist with the clean up. Under the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, a licensed agent must be called in to transport and store materials classified as hazardous. Hats off to the quick response and clean up by Mike and his team at Custom Building Products, three huge containers have already been picked up and removed for proper disposal, the remaining three containers are going out via Law Chemical this week.
