  • Chattahoochee Watershed: On July 23, 50 gallons of diesel was released from a fuel pump when the nozzle did not shut off properly on Fulton Industrial Blvd in Atlanta, Fulton County
  • Oconee Watershed : On July 23, 50 gallons of diesel was released from a logging truck due to equipment failure on New Kings Bridge Rd and Tommy Barnett Rd in Nicholson City, Jackson County.

  • Flint Watershed: On July 12, unreported amounts of sewage was released onto the ground from a malfunctioning lift station on South Broad St in Buena Vista, Marion County.
  • Oconee Watershed : On July 12, an unreported amount of diesel was spilled into a storm drain from a source that is not mentioned along Hwy 22 E and Carrs Station in Milledgeville, Baldwin County.
  • Chattahoochee Watershed : On July 16, 40 gallons of diesel was released onto the road from a ruptured saddle tank on a truck on Stacks Rd in College Park , Fulton County
  • Flint Watershed: On July 10, a resident observed several trucks dumping chicken sludge into a nearby field on Welch Rd in Buena Vista, Marion County.
  • Coosa Watershed : On July 8, an unreported amount of fuel was released at a railyard during a fill up of a locomotive on W Porter St, in Cartersville, Bartow County.
  • Chattahoochee Watershed : On July 9, a substantial amount of diesel and oil was spilled onto the ground by the property owner in Lumpkin County.
  • Ocmulgee Watershed: On June 25th a ruptured saddle tank caused 50 gallons of diesel to be released onto the ground on Bucksnort Rd in Jackson, in Butts County.
  • Oconee Watershed : On June 24th, a car accident has resulted in 500 gallons of motor oil, diesel and flavoring mixture to be released in Gainesville, in Hall County.
  • Ocmulgee Watershed: On June 25th a ruptured saddle tank caused 50 gallons of diesel to be released onto the ground on Bucksnort Rd in Jackson, in Butts County.
  • Oconee Watershed : On June 24th, a car accident has resulted in 500 gallons of motor oil, diesel and flavoring mixture to be released in Gainesville, in Hall County.
  • Suwannee Watershed : An oily substance has been reported on Tyty Creek from an unknown source near Ephesus Church Rd in Sumner, of Worth County.
  • Ocmulgee Watershed: 14700 gallons of sewage was discharged into Intrinchment Creek due to a blockage of debris in the sewage pipe off the 100 block of Welch St E in Atlanta, Fulton County.
  • Suwannee Watershed : An oily substance has been reported on Tyty Creek from an unknown source near Ephesus Church Rd in Sumner, of Worth County.
  • Chattahoochee River Watershed - Reported late, on March 8th, 850 gallons of raw sewage was released on Malone Dr from multiple manholes due to a blockage from rags in Chamblee, of DeKalb County.
  • Coosa Watershed - On June 4th, an unspecified amount of oil from a tractor trailer was released onto the road when the engine blew on State Route 282 E and Dennis Mill Rd in Murray County.
  • Satilla - On June 8th, 100 gallons of jet fuel oil was released on Terminal Way in St Simons - Glynn
  • Savannah Watershed - On Tuesday June 4th, 50 gallons of aqueous foam forming film abbreviated to AFFF, was spilled due to a pump malfunction off Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Chatham County. AFFF is described as a fire suppressant to extinguish flammable liquids like fuel.
  • Coosa Watershed - On June 4th a blown tractor trailer engine caused an unreported amount of oil to be released off State Route 282 E in Ellijay, Murray County.
  • Savannah Watershed - A failed gasket on the discharge pipe leading from a storage tank at a facility off Mike Padgett Hwy failed, causing 10 lbs of chlorine to be spilled onto the concrete ground in Richmond, Richmond County.
  • Ogeechee Watershed - 5000 gallons of raw sewage was released into an unnamed tributary near Mill Creek due to a power outage in the area of W Industrial Blvd in Pembroke of Bryan County.

    Georgia Southern University Emergency Management reference information defines a hazardous spill as "an uncontrolled release of a hazardous substance" , including chemical, biological, or radiological materials.

    Hazardous spills are further described:
    • Small Spill: generally equal to or less than 55 gallons, 200 pounds, or 200 cubic feet of a gas
    • Large spill: generally greater than 55 gallons, 200 pounds, or 200 cubic. feet of a gas

    WTGA reports spills from incident files uploaded to the Georgia EPD Public Complaints portal.  Oil, diesel, gas, hazardous materials and sewage spills are posted by the date received, however these are not available to the public until the incident response is complete and the file is closed.  Each week WTGA searches thirty days back for new spill reports added to the database and lists them here by watershed area, including: 
    • Spills of petroleum products of 40 gallons or more,
    • spills of any amount impacting water
    • spills of any amount of toxic contaminants

    These incidents are listed by the watershed in which they occurred.  ­

    As per EPA Oil Discharge Reporting Requirements,

    the reportable amount of spilled oil product is any amount that leaves a visible sheen on the surface, or a sludge at the bottom of the water body.
