EPD Watershed Protection Branch call for public input


Notice of Second Stakeholder Meeting regarding the Minimum Standards for Public Water Systems, Steel Casing of Drinking Water Wells and Rules for Safe Drinking Water, Rule 391-3-5-.07(5)(b)


On December 14, 2022, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Watershed Protection Branch's Drinking Water Program held a virtual stakeholder meeting to discuss wall thickness of steel casing used in the construction of drinking water wells. Based on public comments received, the Drinking Water Program has prepared proposed updates to:

·        Section 5.2.6.2 of the Minimum Standards for Public Water Systems; and

·        Rule 391-3-5-.07(5)(b)1.

The Drinking Water Program will hold a second virtual stakeholder meeting to discuss this topic on

Thursday, March 9, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

At the stakeholder meeting, anyone may present data, make a statement, or offer comments either orally or in writing. Lengthy statements or statements of a considerable technical or economic nature, as well as previously recorded messages, should be submitted in writing.

Written comments are also welcomed and should be received by close of business on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Written comments may be emailed to EPDComments@dnr.ga.gov. Please include the words “Drinking Water Program Updates” in the subject line to help ensure that your comments will be forwarded to the correct staff.
