Twin rivers flooding in central Georgia

Streamflow Situation from the network of river monitoring gauges of the US Geological Survey in Georgia

Mississippi River drainage basin's Coosa River watershed flooding has ended. Oostanula River stopped flooding at Calhoun in Gordon County last night around 830 pm. Flow at Calhoun is presently recorded at 19 ft deep, two feet below flood stage and declining steadily. NWS Peachtree City forecast rain tomorrow evening, a 50% chance, becoming 100% certainty for showers Wednesday. Across the height-of-land divide in the Atlantic drainage basin, twin rivers Oconee and Ocmulgee record active flooding. The twins flow generally southward, draining 11,400 square miles of central Georgia before combining to form the Altamaha River near Lumber City in Telfair County. Ocmulgee River continues to flood at Macon, presently observed three inches over the channel on a steady declining flow trend. The Oconee River ceased from flooding near Penfield yesterday afternoon around 3 pm, currently two feet below flood stage on a slightly declining trend. Downstream into Washington County, the Oconee River is measured a foot and a half over minor flood stage near Oconee. See the front page map, the black tags indicating flooding observations with time-stamped provisional data from USGS, updated daily.

Chilly this morning in north Georgia, fair and 36F at Warner Robins Air Force Base, the expected high 53 with sunshine. NWS Charleston SC reports fair conditions and 40 degrees at Hunter US Army Airfield, the high 56 and sunny.
