Public complaint of sediment, odor in the water under investigation

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
A drinking water distribution system reported serving twenty or more connections in McIntosh County is under review for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. A complaint received by Georgia Environmental Protection Division indicates sediment and odor in the tap water distributed to homes in a Townsend area development. The water supply is reported as groundwater wells. The matter is under investigation by state authorities. More to follow.

Walker County: LaFayette issued a BWA and water conservation order last week for customers of the Lee School Road water treatment plant. High turbidity or suspended particles in the water can carry microbiological contaminants. Turbid water can be sanitized by boiling, get the water to a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute. City of Lafayette supplies 16 thousand residential and business customers, operating two water treatment plants supplied from groundwater aquifer in the Coosa River Watershed.
