Chattahoochee River watershed in moderate drought
Streamflow Situation from the network of river monitors of the USGS throughout the watersheds of Georgia
Overcast, 48 degrees at Warner Robins Air Force Base, heading for a high 56 with a slight chance of showers. Tonight, a 30% chance of showers before 7pm and again after 2 am with patchy fog from midnight to 4am. Overcast and 52 at Savannah's Hunter US Army Airfield, a 30% chance of showers this morning before 11 am, the high today in the south, 63 degrees.
Streamflows have dropped lower overnight in the greater part of central Georgia. The below normal rating has taken over the dashboard, dominating in the Chattahoochee, Flint and Ocmulgee River watersheds upper basins, with below normal ratings starting to appear in the lower channels of Oconee and Satilla River watersheds in the south. Northern streamflows remain below normal to low with an extreme low found on the Coosa River at Mayo's Bar near Rome.
Moderate drought extends from Tallapoosa River watershed to adjacent Chattahoochee River watershed, impacting south Fulton and Cherokee to Muscogee Counties. The north remains below normal in all but the Upper Coosa River watershed. Upper Flint River watershed is below normal, along with adjacent upper Ocmulgee, Oconee and Savannah River watersheds over the height of land divide in the Atlantic drainage basin. In the south, we see Lower Flint River and Ochlockonee River watersheds rated below normal in the Gulf drainage basin. In the Atlantic basin, Altamaha and St Marys River watersheds have area rated below normal.
