Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Chatham County: Pooler BWA has been rescinded following successful disinfection and water quality testing. Late Friday night, Dec 13 the City of Pooler announced "the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for all users of the municipal water system. Following extensive flushing and thorough testing of the water supply, the results have confirmed that the water is safe for consumption."
According to the City announcement, "the water supply meets all safety standards. Normal water use can resume, and you no longer need to boil water for drinking, cooking, or food preparation." A BWA had been issued last week for all water customers in Pooler following a positive e.coli test at one of the system's water sample sites. The presence of e.coli at any level triggers and immediate boil water order, the chlorination is adjusted and water is retested, a BWA remains in place until disinfection of the water is complete with no coliform detected. Pooler serves 21,187 residents from a surface water source purchased, in the Savannah River watershed.
