Snow on the way to the northeast mountains tonight

Much cooler air will settle over the area today, with gusty west to northwest winds. Overnight lows tonight will drop into the 30s across much of the area, with the potential for patchy frost in some wind protected areas along with the possibility of near freezing temperatures in parts of the north.

Snow flurries are possible in the northeastern mountains late tonight, with a light dusting of snow possible across the highest elevations. No travel impacts are expected.


Low temperatures in the 30s will continue through the weekend, with the potential of frost each night.

Streamflow Situation from the network of the USGS monitoring stations in Georgia
A big drop in temp overnight, the conditions today will be sunny with a high of just 59 degrees Thursday, says the meteorologist at NWS Peachtree City. Streamflow gauges run above seaonal normal to much above normal statewide. Ohoopee River was back in the channel yesterday afternoon, currently a couple of inches below minor flood stage near Reidsville.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Liberty County: City of Hinesville has rebounded from a water main break Monday, the impacted customers directed to boil water as a precautionary measure. The boil order was officially rescinded on Tuesday. From Hinesville website, "The boil water advisory is now officially lifted. Following yesterday's water main repair on General Stewart Way, the Public Works Department has completed the necessary water sample testing. All samples have come back negative, ensuring the water is safe for consumption."

Customers connecting on Taylor Road, Georgia Avenue, Elizabeth Street, Ogden Street, North Main, Armstead, West General Stewart, and Caroline Street were impacted by this order, are now back to normal. City of Hinesville treats and distributes drinking water to 32,471 customers from a groundwater well source in Ogeechee River watershed.
