Flooding continues through the south
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Fannin County: Blue Ridge experienced water main breaks resulting in precautionary Boil Water Orders for Blue Ridge Village, Riverstone Medical Campus, Reid Ridge Lodge, Village Rd, Ingles Shopping Center, Chapel Dr, Overview Dr, Industrial Park Rd (near the 515 intersection) and all side roads. Blue Ridge Water System serves a residential population just over six thousand from a surface water source in the Tennessee River watershed.
According to an updated news release from Town of Blue Ridge yesterday titled Water Main Break Repair Causing Water Outage, " *Update* We have an 8” water main break in area of Ingles Shopping Center, Blue Ridge Village and Riverstone Medical, Industrial Park Road near the 515 intersection. Crews are on site working to restore service. We hope to have service restored by 2pm, however the road will remain reduced to one lane until approximately 6pm. Low pressure and outages are to be expected in the immediate area. This area is also under a boil water advisory which is applicable to anyone who experienced low pressure or water outage. Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in Georgia
Mostly sunny today, high 77 in ths south as the river gauges continue to record widespread flooding. In Evans County, a flash flood of the Canoochee River occurred yesterday in the wee hours, the water level near Claxton peaked last night before midnight in major flood stage, 7.7 feet out of the channel. As of this report the flow is still in major flood stage, steadily receding. Elsewhere in the Atlantic drainage basin, Ogeechee River continues to flood at Midville, appears to have peaked about nine inches over flood stage, may start coming down if it doesn't rain further. Ohoopee River is in major flood stage near Reidsville and rising, near ten feet out of the channel this hour.
On the Gulf of Mexico side of the divide, Suwanee River tributary Withlachoochee River has been in minor flood stage at Skipper Bridge Rd near Bemiss, flow has been coming down, currently just above flood stage.
Streamflows run below normal to normal in the north, shifting to above normal, much above seasonal normal and high in the south.
