SkyWarn Spotter Training this week

Fall 2024 Skywarn Spotter Classes
NWS is offering the SKYWARN Spotter Training class tomorrow October 29, 2024 6pm to 8pm at the Homer Fire Department -- 112 Athens Street, Homer GA 30547. To register, call April Turner at 706-677-1812.

For those outside of Banks County that are interested in becoming National Weather Service spotters, a virtual class is available November 1, 12 to 2 pm, presented by NWS Atlanta. For more information, SKYWARN training schedule, here.

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Georgia

The forecast from Warner Robins Air Force base, partly sunny with a high of 75 today, no rain or hazardous weather in the forecast.

Streamflows have fallen further below seasonal normal in the northwest Monday, continuing at seasonal normal through the central and south. The drought map is based on 7-day average streamflow readings compared with historic averages, the northwest area rated below normal is now joined by a section of the Upper Chattahoochee River watershed from west Lumpkin County through Dawson, east Pickens and Cherokee Counties rated below normal along with adjacent Tallapoosa, Coosa and Tennessee River watershed section west. Tennessee River west watershed rated below normal includes Dade, Walker and Catoosa Counties. Coosa River watershed is below normal along the west state line including Chattooga County, south Floyd, the majority of Bartow County and all of Polk County. Tallapoosa River watershed remains below normal through Carroll and Haralson Counties.

As of this report there are no active flood events in the monitoring network, no extreme high or extreme low flows.
