CENTRAL PRESSURE IN THE EYE OF MILTON HAS FALLEN TO A NEAR RECORD LOW...MILTON POSES AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS THREAT TO FLORIDA AND RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO FOLLOW THE ORDERS OF LOCAL OFFICIALS
At 700 PM CDT (0000 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Milton was located
near latitude 21.9 North, longitude 90.4 West. Milton is moving
toward the east near 10 mph (17 km/h). This general motion is
expected through tonight followed by a turn toward the east-
northeast and northeast on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the forecast
track, the center of Milton is forecast to move near or just north
of the Yucatan Peninsula tonight and Tuesday, then cross the eastern
Gulf of Mexico and approach the west coast of the Florida Peninsula
on Wednesday.
Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds
remain near 180 mph (285 km/h) with higher gusts. Milton is a
potentially catastrophic category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale. While fluctuations in intensity are expected,
Milton is forecast to remain an extremely dangerous hurricane
through landfall in Florida.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from
the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80
miles (130 km).

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Walker County: City of Lafayette issued a BWA yesterday due to elevated turbidity levels in the water supply at the Lee School water treatment plant. Connections east of Hwy 27 bypass, south of 136 St East, Naomi community Hwy 151, Corinth area, Hillcrest community, Walnut Grove area, Old Trion Hwy. City of Lafayette distributes treated surface water water purchased from Catoosa and Walker Counties to 18,177 residential customers.
Bryan County: Various private water service companies have issued boil water advisories this week including customers in the Coastal Health District. More than 25 locations in Bryan County are affected until further notice.
Bulloch County has 166 active drinking water permits. Many of these are experiencing BWA's post Hurricane Helene. Check for local advisories, if in doubt of the status of your local water, boil all water intended for drinking or food preparation for a minimum of one minute at a rolling boil to take care of possible microbiological contamination. Streamflow Situation from the network of monitoring stations of the USGS Georgia Water Science Center
Sunny and clear at Peachtree City forecast center with normal streamflows in the north ranging to much above normal to high streamflows in the south impacting both sides of the divide, no hazardous weather officially forecast as of this report. Thirteen stations continue to record flood flows in the Georgia reference network Monday, out of a total 28 floodings recorded throughout the continental USA. Remain alert for flooded roads. Do not drive through places where flood waters cover the road. Turn around, don`t drown!
