Streamflow Situation
from the network of monitoring stations of the USGS Georgia Water Science Center

Streamflows remain much above seasonal normal to high statewide midweek with river flooding at 13 monitoring sites in the USGS network. On the Gulf of Mexico side of the drainage divide, a high flow remains on the Flint River at GA26 near Montezuma, this flow level peaked just short of flood stage, now on a slow decline, on the way out of action stage. Ochlockonee River still runs 3 ft over the channel near Concord, FL. Adjacent Suwannee River watershed flooding continues in Little River at GA 122 near Hahira, no longer flooding upstream near Adel as of noon hour yesterday. Withlachoochee River is in moderate flood stage, running four feet over the channel at both stations, Skipper Bridge Rd near Bemiss and US 84 near Quitman. Alapaha River is still two feet over the channel near Alapaha in Berrien County.

Flooding in the Atlantic basin is still shifting southward in the network. Flooding ended at Macon yesterday 1045 am, and started flooding downstream at US 341 near Hawkinsville yesterday morning. The Ocmulgee River rising trend is slowing down, it appears this flow may have peaked at five feet over the channel, just short of the moderate flood stage. Oconee River is no longer flooding near Oconee as of the noon hour yesterday. Ohoopee River has hit major flood stage as of 10 am this morning, recorded nine feet above the channel near Reidsville. Ohoopee stopped flooding last evening around 8pm at GA 297 near Swainsboro. Ogeechee River is still flooding a foot and a half over the channel at Midville impacting north Emanuel and south Burke Counties. Brier Creek stopped flooding within the last hour in central Burke County. Altamaha River is close to three feet over at US 221 near Charlotteville, near four feet over downstream near Baxley station. Satilla River is more than a foot over flood stage at GA158 near Waycross, Alabaha River flow is up sharply overnight, a foot over on a steep inclining trend, according to provisional data.

Watch the black tags on the map to the right for updates on flow levels, blue tags indicate action stage for flooding. More to follow.
