Streamflow Situation
from the network of monitoring stations of the USGS Georgia Water Science Center

Streamflows remain much above seasonal normal throughout the state as flooding continues on the major river systems of central and south Georgia. Large river channels have gathered the surface runoff deposited by Helene from watersheds on both sides of the Georgia height-of-land divide. On the Gulf of Mexico side of the drainage divide, Flint River is no longer flooding at any of the monitoring stations in the reference network. The high flow measured yesterday at GA26 near Montezuma peaked just short of flood stage, now on the decline. Ochlockonee River is no longer flooding in the upper channel in Georgia, still running 3 ft over the channel near Concord, FL. Adjacent Suwannee River watershed flooding continues through the Little River at Adel and Hahira, the Alapaha River is no longer flooding at GA125 near Irwinville, still two and a half feet out of the channel near Alapaha in Berrien County. Withlacoochee River runs six feet over the channel at Skipper Bridge Rd near Bemiss, now flooding downstream at US 84 near Quitman.

Flooding in the Atlantic basin is still clearing out down the channels, Ocmulgee is less than a foot over the channel at Macon. Oconee River is still flooding near Oconee, just an inch over at this report. Ogeechee River is down a foot, still a foot and a half above the channel at Midville impacting north Emanuel and south Burke Counties. Brier Creek is still running a foot out of the channel in central Burke County. Ohoopee River is still flooding at GA297 near Swainsboro, the depth has doubled overnight near Reidsville, more than six and a half feet over the channel. Ocmulgee, Oconee and Ohoopee get together in the Altamaha River channel, now flooding US 221 near Charlotteville, up a foot overnight to three feet over, downstream near Baxley, up a foot and a half overnight, running three and a half feet over. Satilla River is now flooding at GA158 near Waycross, Alabaha River continues to flood at GA 203 near Blackshear.

Watch the black tags on the map to the right for updates on flow levels, blue tags indicate action stage for flooding. More to follow.
