Be alert for flooded roads which could be compromised or littered with debris. Avoid travel until water levels subside and roads have been cleared. Do not drive through places where flood waters cover the road. Turn around, don`t drown!

Streamflow Situation
Chaos and mayhem continue in Georgia as overland runoff from Helene is gathered to the larger river systems, further complicating matters downstream in Florida where the initial impact of the Category 4 Hurricane has already done its devastating business.

Most flooding in the north and around Atlanta has receded, floodwater pushing deeper south this hour. In the Gulf of Mexico drainage area also impacting Florida, the Chattahoochee River is still flooding near Whitesburg and Franklin, flooding has ended at Columbus. High flow levels downstream of Columbus remain level this hour. Flint River is still flooding near Griffin, back in the channel near Molena. Flooding is ongoing on Flint River near Thomaston and Carsonville, the water level is slowing down. Ochlockonee River is still flooding from GA 188 near Coolidge, floodwaters have peaked and just starting to recede around Thomasville, still rising at Concord station in Florida, heading for major flood stage. Suwannee River watershed is flooding along the Little River near Adel and now Hahira. Withlacoochee River is still flooding near Bemiss. Alapaha River is running over from GA 125 near Irwinville down to Alapaha, this water level is on a steady rise heading for moderate flood stage. All of this inundation is headed for the Gulf via Florida.

On the Atlantic side of the drainage divide, Yellow River continues to flood near Rocky Plains. Ocmulgee River is no longer flooding at Jackson, the mass of floodwater has shifted south to GA18, flooding at Dames Ferry and Macon. Water level is still rising in Ocmulgee River, a bit slower rise this hour, looks like this one may reach peak flow before reaching major flood stage, currently near ten feet over. Oconee River is flooding near Penfield and Oconee. Altamaha tributary the Ohoopee River is still flooding at GA 297 near Swainsboro. Altamaha is now flooding near Baxley. Satilla River watershed is inundated at GA 203 near Blackshear, that's Alabaha River out of the channel down there. Ogeechee River is still flooding at Midville, Savannah River minor tributary Brier Creek is still flooding near Waynesboro. Watch the black tags on the map to the right for updates on flow levels. More to follow.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Toombs County: Vidalia Water issued a system wide BWA yesterday due to power grid and water outages in the aftermath of Helene. Vidalia serves a population of 14909 from groundwater well source in the Altamaha River watershed.

With power outages all over the state, drinking water advisories will be widespread as power is restored and service resumes. More to follow.

A statement from Georgia Power, "Hurricane Helene has been an historic event, becoming our most destructive hurricane, damaging infrastructure across the state. Estimated Restoration Times (ERTs) are now available for all impacted by the storm. These ERTs are not a guess, but represent the most accurate estimate that we can make based on our in the field assessments. Our teams will continue to work around the clock to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. For insights into our progress visit the Outages and Storm Center, here.
