Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of monitors in Georgia
More heavy rain today may lead to flooding, including flash flooding in west Georgia. The present streamflow dashboard indicates higher streamflows registering in the southwest lower Chattahoochee and lower Flint River watersheds overnight. One monitor in the southwest is picking up an extreme high flow so far, Pachitla Creek has reached 99th percentile flow near Edison, one foot below flood stage. The drought map is beginning to clear, 7 day average streamflows are shifting higher releasing south Georgia both sides of the drainage divide from drought ratings in all but Early, Miller and Seminole Counties, still rated below normal. In the north, moderate drought has expanded westward from the upper Savannah River watershed over into the Tennessee River watershed east section into Towns and Fannin Counties. As of this report, there are no extreme low flows or flood events recorded in the reference network.
