June 25, 2024 927 am EDT

Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by NWS Peachtree City 532 am Tuesday June 25
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible over portions of south-central Georgia this afternoon. Very high heat index values in the upper 90s and near 100 are expected this afternoon in central Georgia.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible over much of the area each day from Wednesday through next Monday. Storms that develop will be capable of producing lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds. Extreme heat will also be possible across much of the area through next Monday, with heat index values around or above 100 each afternoon.

From The Sensors provisional data on river flooding from the network of USGS streamflow monitors

Seventy-four streamflow gauges indicate flooding in the USA Tuesday, down from seventy-six Monday. The majority of these floods are recorded in the midwest states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota. Within the WT coverage area of New York, Ohio, Georgia and Louisiana, one last location records flow above flood stage, that being on Sabine River in Louisiana.

Louisiana: Region 1 Bayou Bodcau Lake flooding ended Monday, leaving Sabine River monitors near Ruliff the last in the network to record flood values. This latest round of flooding started on June 4, appears to be wrapping up in the next day or two. For water level at the flood site, see the black tag indicating flood flow volume and gauge height updated daily here.

Drinking Water Advisories
Stephens County: Martin - under a BWA Sunday following discovery of a main line leak on Hurricane Grove Road. Martin serves a population of 1703 through 655 residential connections, the raw water is sourced from groundwater wells.

As many drinking water facilities are supplied from surface water reservoirs, the streamflow situation is pertinent to both drinking water supply and quality. High flows can stir up sediment and cause turbidity in the reservoirs, requiring additional treatments to render the water potable. Low flow volume is linked to warmer temperatures in the reservoir and can be an issue for water quality where HABs are present. WT tracks streamflow trends with an eye to the impacts on drinking water supply and quality in each of the state's watersheds. Check the watershed layer on the map to see the direction of flow and streamflows that may be impacting drinking water today.

USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.
Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences. Information concerning the accuracy and appropriate uses of these data or concerning other hydrologic data may be obtained from the USGS.
