WT USA Flows and Flood Tracker provisional data from the network of USGS streamflow monitors

As of this update, forty-two sites record flooding on the national USGS network, up from forty-one this morning. Nine floodings are actively occurring in the WT coverage area, four in Georgia, and five in Louisiana.

Georgia: Satilla River flooding has ended near Waycross, the provisional data shows this flood ended early this morning. Satilla continues to overflow the channel downstream at Atkinson, running two feet over as of this update. Little Satilla River is still recording a flood event near Offerman, down to half a foot of flood flow and receding. Gulf of Mexico basin's Ochlockonee River tucked back down into the channel around 730 this morning. Withlachoochee River curtailed flooding around the same time at Skipper Rd near Bemiss. The Withlacoochee River overflow continues at US84 near Quitman and downstream near Pinetta, FL. See black tags indicating flow volume and gauge height, updated daily on the map to the right.

Louisiana is down to five sites in the USGS monitor network recording active flooding overnight. Calcasieu River is no longer flooding near Kinder, the flooding does continue on in the upper channel currently recorded a foot over the channel near Glenmora. Pearl River is no longer flooding near Bogalusa. In Region 1 watershed, Bayou Bodcau continues to run a foot and three inches over the channel. Region 4 Sabine River flooding continues in the lower end of the channel near Ruliff, TX. Region 5 watershed Mermentau River continues to overflow the channel at Mermentau, three inches over as of this report. In Region 7, Pearl River flooding continues at the Town of Pearl River. As many drinking water facilities are supplied from surface water reservoirs, the streamflow situation is pertinent to both drinking water supply and quality. High flows can stir up sediment and cause turbidity in the reservoirs, requiring additional treatments to render the water potable. Low flow volume is linked to warmer temperatures in the reservoir and can be an issue for water quality where HABs are present. WT tracks streamflow trends with an eye to the impacts on drinking water supply and quality in each of the state's watersheds. Check the watershed layer on the map to see the direction of flow and streamflows that may be impacting drinking water today.

USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
