Streamflow Situation provisional data from USGS current streamflow monitors
Twenty-five streamflow monitors record active flooding Wednesday, up from twenty-three Tuesday. Savannah River breached minor flood stage around 9 pm last night at Burtons Ferry Road near Millhaven.

Timeline of a river flood: Oconee River vs Savannah River
Oconee River flooding started on March 6 around 7pm, USGS provisional data recorded the first channel breach at the monitoring station in the upper Oconee River watershed near Penfield. Downstream at Avant Mine, flood stage was breached 36 hours later, on March 8 around 8 am. In less than 19 hours, flooding began near Oconee, recorded Mar 9 at around 230 am. Downstream at Dublin, flooding started up on a 52 hour delay, beginning Mar 11 7 am. Last evening, Mar 12 around 8 pm, Oconee River breached flood stage at Mount Vernon, a 37 hour time lapse.

Savannah River flooding progressed in reverse of what we see on the Oconee River during this current event. The recent breach on Savannah River around 8 pm last night is upstream of the where flooding initially broke out near Cylo around 5 pm on March 10. The channel depth may have something to do with this, minor flood stage near Cylo is 11 ft, where upstream near Millhaven the channel is 15 ft deep. The time lapse between the two breaches, downstream to upstream, 52 hours.

Flint River flooding is over at the top end Griffin and mid-channel Carsonville. Flint flooding continues downstream at Albany, feeding high water volume into Lake Seminole along with three more flooding tributaries, altogether running up the overflow of Apalachicola River at Chattahoochee, FL.

On the Atlantic basin side of the state divide, the Ocmulgee River continues to spill over at Hawkinsville and Abbeville, throwing that higher water volume in with the flooding Oconee River, overwhelming the channels that no longer contain their combined flow, the Altamaha River, flooding on near Charlotteville and Baxley.

Ogeechee River continues to flood at Midville and Eden, Ohoopee River is still flooding at Reidsville, Canoochee River floods on at Claxton, Little Satilla River is over near Offerman. Next in line to flood, Altamaha River at Doctortown and Everett City, not necessarily in that order. So far, these stations have not reached 99th percentile. More to follow.

Check black tags on the map for flood levels updated throughout the day, blue tags for high flow.

Drinking Water Advisories
The Waleska Water Authority issued a boil water advisory for the Silver Creek subdivision near Canton due to low pressure last week Thursday.
