NWS: Flash floodFlood Watch
Ohoopee River flooding near Reidsville

Water news for Thursday, March 7, 2024 updated 420 pm EST

National Weather Service Flood Watch issued 258 am March 7
FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible in portions of northern and central Georgia from Friday evening through late Saturday night.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Area creeks and streams are running high and could rise further with more heavy rain.

A storm system will produce moderate to heavy rainfall in the region between Friday night and Saturday night. Rainfall totals of 1 to 4 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall may combine with saturated soil conditions to produce flooding.

Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
