How one Georgia drinking water facility is investing in flood mitigation

Thursday, February 29 2024 - 1102 am EST

Drinking Water Matters
Bibb County is getting ahead of flood risk to surface drinking water supplies. Macon Water Authority is the local government owned drinking water facility for south Bibb County, established in 1980, currently serving over 130 thousand customers drinking water sourced from the Ocmulgee River.

As we have followed the recent flooding of the Ocmulgee and downstream Altamaha Rivers over the last weeks, we take a closer look at some of the population centers that rely on these surface water sources, and how they are adapting to more severe and frequent floods. More to follow.
