Streamflow situation based on provisional data from USGS streamflow gauges in the rivers and creeks of Georgia
USGS records 7 monitoring locations flooding in the USA today, all but one of these are in the area covered by WaterToday Media Group, 4 in the state of Georgia.

Altamaha River is no longer flooding at US221 near Charlotteville Tuesday, the water level coming under flood stage around 330 am this morning and well under minor flood stage as of this report. Ogeechee River is no longer spilling over, retreating into its channel near Eden around 630 am and currently running just over an inch below the tipping point for minor flood.

Altamaha flow remains in flood stage at three monitored locations downstream of US221 near Charlotteville. According to provisional data, Altamaha is still running two feet over near Baxley; running four inches over at Doctortown and a foot and three inches over near Everett City with all sites looking at a steep declining flow trend. Savannah River is still up more than a foot and a half above flood stage near Cylo, dropping sharply.

Check black tags on the map for updated flood flow levels.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
Ocmulgee River watershed has moved up to moderate drought rating Tuesday in the area of south Laurens, east Dodge, west Wheeler and north Telfair Counties, leading the dry trend in Georgia today. Also in the Atlantic drainage area, Savannah River watershed is rated below normal from northeast Greene County through Taliaferro, catching the south edge of Wilkes, north strip of McDuffie, the south border of Lincoln and north portion of Columbia.

In the Mississippi-bound drainage area, all of northwest GA is rated below normal, including Coosa, Tennessee west and Tallapoosa watersheds. Upper Flint River remains below normal Tuesday from the south end of Fulton down to the south Taylor County line. Lower Chattahoochee River sticks on the below normal track from Clay County to Seminole County, west edge.

USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.
Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences. Information concerning the accuracy and appropriate uses of these data or concerning other hydrologic data may be obtained from the USGS.

USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.
