Streamflow situation based on provisional data from USGS streamflow gauges in the rivers and creeks of Georgia
USGS records 10 monitoring sites flowing above flood stage nationally. Six of these floods are occurring now on three rivers in the state of Georgia.
Altamaha River remains above flood stage at four locations: a foot and three inches over near Charlotteville, three and a half feet over near Baxley, ten inches over at Doctortown and a foot and a half over near Everett City. Savannah River continues to run close to two feet over banks near Cylo and the Ogeechee River is still five inches over flood stage near Eden Monday mid-morning.
Satilla River ducked under the flood wire right around 5 am this morning at Atkinson, currently running little more than an inch below flood stage and dropping rapidly.
Check black tags on the map for updated flood flow levels. Blue tags for action stage of 99th percentile flows.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
Upper Flint River joins the drought map Monday with a strip of south Fulton rated below normal through Fayette and down to include Taylor County, delivering reduced flow volume to the Mississippi system. Lower Chattahoochee River is likewise showing up below normal Monday from Clay County through west Early and west Seminole Counties.
North and west of the state divide, also tilted toward the Mississippi, the Tallapoosa River watershed is rated below normal at Carroll and Haralson Counties again Monday, Coosa River watershed remains below normal from Whitfield and Murray through east Pickens to west Polk. Tennessee River watershed west section Dade, Walker and Catoosa Counties all rated below normal.
In the Atlantic drainage basin, Ocmulgee River watershed Telfair, Laurens, Wheeler and Dodge Counties have areas rated below normal. In Savannah River watershed, northeast Greene, Taliaferro, south Wilkes, north McDuffie, south Lincoln and north Columbia are rated below normal Sunday.
USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.
Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences. Information concerning the accuracy and appropriate uses of these data or concerning other hydrologic data may be obtained from the USGS.
USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.
