A boil water advisory has been issued for the city of Fairburn following repairs to the 24-inch main transmission line Monday. BWA applies until further notice.

USGS Streamflow gauges
Ocmulgee River continues to recede in volume at Macon, as of Tuesday late afternoon the water level is still in action stage. Ocmulgee River drains an area upstream more than 2200 square miles, collecting rainfall and runoff through its network of tributary creeks.NWS reports a 40% chance of rain tonight upstream in the Ocmulgee River watershed which could turn the flow volume up again. Etowah River flow is rated 99th percentile below Allatoona Dam near Cartersville, increasing slightly through the day. The water level here is on a controlled release from the dam. Action stage does not always indicate flooding is imminent.
Streamflows through the central Atlantic drainage area are a mixed bag of ratings from below normal to high Tuesday. Two monitors are recording high flows of 98th percentile in central state, Alcovy River above Covington and Apalachee River near Bostwick. Both of these water bodies are trending downward, neither is in action stage or looking to flood as of this update.
For the Mississippi basin, streamflows range from normal to much above normal all the way down to the south state line. There are no extreme low flows anywhere in Georgia this morning.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
The area of Lower Flint River watershed rated below normal on the Mississippi side of the drainage divide has come off the drought map overnight.
On the Atlantic side of the divide, Lower Ocmulgee River watershed remains rated below normal at south Laurens, east Dodge, west Wheeler and north Telfair another day. Watch for this to shift off as the flows upstream are currently rated above normal.
HABs update from Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Coastal Resources Division Shellfish and Water Quality Unit
Permanent advisories remain in effect for bacterial contamination at Jekyll Clam Creek Beach on the north end of Jekyll Island and St Andrews Beach on the south end. Lab tests processed at Brunswick on samples collected Tuesday January 2, 2024 show the enterococcus levels below the health advisory threshold. Clam Creek Beach came in at 4 cfu per 100 ml and 9 cfu per 100 ml for St Andrews.
