Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
Drought ratings for the Mississippi basin in Georgia including Upper Coosa River watershed, Whitfield, Murray, Gilmer and Gordon Counties, east Chattooga, north Floyd area rated below normal Tuesday. A small area of west central Dade County not included in the Tennessee West watershed area is rated severe drought.

On the Atlantic side of the state divide, (Editor's note of correction: originally reported Oconee River watershed, should have been Ocmulgee River watershed) Ocmulgee River watershed pops up with an area rating below normal including south Laurens, east Dodge, west Wheeler and north Telfair.

Streamflows in south and central GA a mix of normal and below normal ratings Tuesday, northwest Georgia heading back into drought territory with streams and rivers flowing below normal to much below normal.

USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.
