Streamflow situation from USGS Waterwatch gages throughout Georgia
Widespread flooding in north Georgia continues Tuesday night with water levels rising rapidly, see map for the latest flow information being updated continually.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
Areas rated on the drought map Tuesday appear similar to Friday, with an escalation of the severity of drought in the northwest. A small area of Dade County along the west state line has been rated extreme drought. The adjacent areas of Coosa River and the west portion of Tennesee River watersheds are rated moderate drought. Lower Chattahoochee and the entirety of Flint River watershed are moderate drought rated as of Tuesday.

Upper Chattahoochee River watershed rated below normal Friday is excluded from the drought map Tuesday, including Lumpkin, White and Habersham Counties to north Fulton County. Beginning at south Fulton County, the Chattahoochee River watershed becomes below normal as far as Clay County. From Clay, the lower Chattahoochee River becomes moderate drought through Seminole County. Flint River watershed is rated moderate drought from south Fulton to Decatur County.

In the Atlantic basin, Savannah River is rated below normal from Rabun to Screven County. Ogeechee River watershed has come off the drought map. Ocmulgee River watershed is rated entirely below normal from Gwinnett through Telfair County. Oconee River watershed is rated below normal from south Hall County through Wheeler.

USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.
