Streamflow situation from USGS Waterwatch gages throughout Georgia
St Marys River is flowing below flood stage near MacClenny FL for the first time since December 17. Satilla River flow level is declining, still flooding Friday late afternoon. Upstream flows are still at seasonal normal, looking to take another week for the overflow to stop. St Mary's River is still more than a foot above flood stage at Folkston. Check the black location tags on the map for flow details updated throughout the day.

Flint River is back to normal flow level at GA 32 near Oakfield as regular releases from Warwick dam on Lake Blackshear determine the flow level at this station. Tobesofkee Creek in the Ocmulgee River watershed has taken over as the low flow station in Georgia this afternoon.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
North Georgia is almost done with drought, only the Coosa River watershed remains, rated below normal. Tallapoosa River watershed exited from the drought arena overnight as snow is expected to fall in the mountains above 2000 feet today and streamflows across much of the north are back to seasonal normal levels. A dozen stations are still recording below normal in the Coosa River watershed, more to follow.

Upper Flint River watershed has cleared the drought map overnight. Lower Flint River is still showing up below normal with an area at moderate drought south of Taylor County. Lower Chattahoochee watershed is rated below normal from Muscogee to Seminole County.

For the Atlantic drainage basin, the Upper Ocmulgee River watershed shows up below normal from Gwinnett to Bibb County Friday.
USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.
