Streamflow situation from USGS Waterwatch gages throughout Georgia
Seven gauges record flooding Friday. As of this update, Satilla River and tributaries Alabaha and Little Satilla River are still flooding. St Marys's River has breached moderate flood stage at Folkston, flowing a foot higher overnight. Upstream on St Marys, MacClenny is still in moderate flood depth. Flow at MacClenny station peaked on the 18th and has been gradually slowing since. St Marys North Prong tributary is still flooding at Moniac, also on the decline. See black location tags on the map for details.

Real-time stream flow gauges are recording low flows at on the Flint River at Thomaston Friday.on and Albany. The north has one low flow Friday, Conasauga River at Tilton. The controlled release on the Chattahoochee River is measured low above Roswell. Extreme fire danger warning extends for a fourth day in "near critical" fire danger due to dry fuel and low relative humidity.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow compared with historic average
Drought area has expanded in Central GA overnight with Upper Oconee watershed filling in the gap between the Savannah and Ocmulgee, the entire central state is now rated below normal on both sides of the state divide. Drought map remains as seen Thursday for north GA, moderate rating applies to Upper Coosa River watershed, Tallapoosa and Middle Chattahoochee River watershed. On the Atlantic side of the divide, Upper Savannah is showing up moderate drought again today. The remaining surface area of Georgia is rated below normal across both drainage basins from north of Harris, Taylor, Bibb, Putnam to Lincoln Counties. An area in south Flint River watershed is rated below normal. Further to the southeast, flooding is ongoing.

USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this day. Results appear on the drought map, showing surface area with a rating: below normal, moderate drought, severe drought or extreme drought. The drought-rated surface area most often follows watershed lines, the physical topography of drainage and direction of flow of the surface water across the state. The watershed layer on the map shows surface area impacted by streamflows in each drainage area. Turn the directional arrows on to see which way the water flows, along with hazardous spills reported in the area that could have an impact on water quality.

Hazardous Spills files released from Georgia Department of Environmental Conservation

A tractor trailer tank is reported ruptured on the highway spilling 100 gallons of diesel near Lawrence in Dekalb County. Responders applied an absorbent product to clean up the spill. A spill of 15000 gallons of sewage is reported spilled on Kenora Drive in Atlanta with no cause reported. More to follow.

HABs update from Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Coastal Resources Division Shellfish and Water Quality Unit

Two permanent beach advisories remain in effect on Jekyll Island including Jekyll Clam Creek Beach on the north end and St Andrews Beach on the south end. Lab tests on October 16 samples show the enterococcus bacteria levels below the health advisory threshold. Clam Creek Beach came in at 20 cfu per 100 ml and 7 cfu per 100 ml for St Andrews.

Public notification of the location of harmful algal blooms helps to protect pets, swimmers and waders from venturing into areas with known HABs and helps recreational water users find clear access points on state water bodies. Observations of HABs can be reported here by email, info@wtga.us for public notification on our map and through SMS alerts. The identity of the reporting party is not included in our notifications. Include a photo and location geo-tag so that the bloom can be accurately placed on the map and confirmed by local authorities.

Drinking Water Advisories
Cleveland BWA remains in effect for connections on the west side of Jackson St, Colonial Dr, West Jarrard St, North Bell St to West Kytle St to the intersection of West Underwood St and ABC Dr until further notice.
