Mountain City BWA

Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - last updated 1018 am EST

Streamflows situation from USGS Waterwatch gages throughout Georgia
Flows are below normal to much above normal in the north again Wednesday contributing to the severe drought in Upper Savannah River watershed and moderate drought in the Coosa River watershed.

As of this update, the Upper Savannah River remains at severe hydrologic drought, the Coosa River watershed and Upper Flint watershed of the Mississippi basin are rated moderate drought. Chattahoochee River and Oconee River watershed Baldwin, Wilkinson and Laurens Counties remain below normal. There are no extreme low flows or high flows in Georgia as of this update. More to follow.

USGS seven-day average streamflows at each monitoring location are rated against the historic average flow volume for this date, determining the drought map for the day. The drought map shows areas rated below normal, moderate drought, severe drought and extreme drought.

Hazardous Spills files released from Georgia Department of Environmental Conservation

Chattahoochee River watershed - a motor vehicle incident occurred Nov 28 during refueling on Button Gwinnett Dr in Doraville last week. Responders note 75 gallons of diesel spilled on the pavement and entered the storm drain. Basha Services placed an absorbent boom in storm drain and applied granules to contain the spill and recover as much petroleum possible.

See the Spills button to the right of the map for a list of spill incidents reported to EPD in Georgia this year.
